A few larger photos of the 4 plank aside lug-rigged Apple, without any internal ballast, in light and fresh to strong winds.

However, with 125kg of internal ballast, she is for the single-hander a sit-in, sit-still style of dayboat of considerable power that will still plane off the wind.

Reefing is simple and fast, done without dropping the main into the boat, accomplished within 30 seconds with only a little practice.

Below is the second mainsail for the Apple that I designed, cut and sewed, somewhat flatter than the first and more suited for strong wind sailing without reefing, as well as being of a higher quality - more stable - sail cloth. All the sewing was done on a good domestic sewing machine, including corner patches. Pointing ability, repeatedly confirmed in hundreds of hour long races, easily matched GP's, Solos, Phantoms, Wayfarers and others - even on the so-called 'wrong' tack, and was no doubt one of the reasons she was handicapped harder than a Wayfarer during all the years I raced her.
